Truck unloading in Brno: pre-advice, time slots, docks and paperwork
For unloading at your Brno warehouse to run without waiting, we need to know your time slot and unloading method in advance – at a dock, from the side by forklift, or with a tail lift. We pre-advise the truck’s arrival the day before and confirm the time on the day. At handover you sign the CMR consignment note and record any damage on it straight away as a reservation.
Where are goods most often delivered around Brno?

Most warehouses we deliver imported goods to lie outside the centre: in industrial and logistics zones along the D1 and D2 south and east of Brno, around Modřice and the D52 towards Pohořelice, on the Černovice Terrace (Černovická terasa) and in business parks by the D1 exits towards Vyškov and Jihlava. These sites are built for articulated trucks with 13.6 m trailers. Heavy goods vehicles face access restrictions in central Brno and residential districts, so we deliver there with a smaller vehicle. If you are unsure whether a trailer can reach you, send us the exact address and a description of the access.
How does pre-advice work?
- When you book, give us your time slot, warehouse contact and any booking reference.
- The day before, we confirm the expected arrival time and the vehicle registration.
- On the day, we update the time based on the truck’s current position; if there is a delay (queues on the D1, waiting at a border) we tell you immediately.
- After unloading, we obtain the signed CMR and send it to you with the invoice.
How to work with time slots
| Situation at the warehouse | What we need to know |
|---|---|
| Slot booking system for hauliers | booking number or the access we use to book the slot |
| Fixed receiving hours (e.g. 06:00–14:00) | the latest time you will still accept a truck |
| No time slots (smaller business) | when staff and equipment are on site |
| Several drops in one day | order and times for each site |
A truck from Spain or France spends several days on the road, so for long-distance consignments we suggest keeping a little flexibility on the arrival day. With trucks from Austria and Germany the slot can be hit more precisely.
Dock, side unloading or tail lift?

- At a dock (from the rear) – the trailer reverses onto the dock and pallets are taken off with a pallet truck. The quickest option and standard in logistics parks.
- From the side – on a curtainsider the curtain is pulled back and goods are unloaded by forklift from the side. Suitable for builders’ merchants, open yards and firms without a dock; you need a forklift with long enough forks and level, firm ground beside the truck.
- With a tail lift – a platform at the rear lowers each pallet to the ground. Suited to smaller vehicles and lighter pallets where there is neither a dock nor a forklift; lift capacity is limited, so we need the weight of the heaviest pallet.
Unloading is usually done by the consignee with their own equipment; the driver opens the vehicle and releases the load restraints. If unloading runs over the agreed time, the haulier may charge waiting time.
Which documents are handed over at delivery?
- CMR consignment note – the consignee confirms receipt with signature, stamp, date and time.
- The supplier’s delivery note (a DDT for Italian consignments) and, where relevant, a packing list.
- A pallet note if Euro pallets are exchanged; the number not exchanged is recorded on the CMR.
- For excise goods, the accompanying document required by their regime.
What if the goods are damaged?
Record any visible damage or missing items directly on the CMR as a reservation at handover and take photos. Hidden damage that could not be seen at unloading must be notified to the haulier in writing within 7 days of delivery (Sundays and public holidays excluded) – as laid down in Article 30 of the CMR Convention. Contact us straight away and we will handle the claim with the haulier for you.
