Road freight from Portugal to Brno and Moravia
A full truck from Portugal takes about 4–5 days to reach Brno; it is roughly 2,850 km from Porto and around 3,000 km from Lisbon. We move anything from a single pallet to a full truckload for delivery in Brno and anywhere in Moravia. Fewer trucks run to Portugal than to Spain, so we recommend sending your enquiry a few days in advance.
How long does freight from Portugal to Brno take?
Portugal is the most distant country we regularly bring goods from. A full truck spends 4–5 days on the road; groupage with individual pallets usually takes 6–8 working days. The table gives distance and transit time by region.
| Collection region | Distance to Brno (approx.) | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| Porto, Braga, Guimarães | 2,850 km | 4–5 days |
| Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria | 2,900 km | 4–5 days |
| Lisbon, Setúbal | 3,000 km | 4–5 days |
| Algarve | 3,150–3,250 km | 5 days |
The times are indicative from collection. For delivery to Ostrava or western Slovakia, allow a few extra hours.
Which route runs from Portugal to Moravia?
The truck crosses the whole of northern Spain – via Salamanca or Valladolid and Burgos to the French border at Irún. In France it continues via Bordeaux and Paris, or through the centre of the country, into Germany. From there it heads to Brno either through Prague and down the D1 or via Munich and Vienna. Along the way it can pick up goods in Spain and France, which helps fill the trailer.
What is shipped from Portugal to Moravia?

- furniture and upholstery from the north (the Porto area, Paços de Ferreira),
- textiles, clothing and footwear,
- cork and cork products, ceramics and porcelain,
- wine, olive oil and other food products,
- components for engineering and the automotive industry.
Why book Portuguese collections early?
Fewer trucks travel from central Europe to Portugal than to Spain, so there are fewer return journeys too. If we know about a consignment 3–5 working days ahead, it is easier to find a vehicle with space for Moravia or to combine it with a collection in Spain. Urgent loads can run direct, but the choice of vehicles is smaller.
Full truck or groupage from Portugal?

Over such a long distance the difference between groupage and a dedicated truck is more noticeable than for nearer countries. Thinking in loading metres helps: one metre of trailer length takes about 2.4 Euro pallets, and a full 13.6 m trailer holds 33.
- 1–6 pallets – groupage; longer transit, but you pay only for the space used.
- 7–18 pallets – part load, often travelling with goods from Spain.
- from about 18 pallets or 7 t – full truck running straight to Moravia without transhipment.
Pallets that cannot be stacked take up more space than their number suggests – please mention this in your enquiry.
What to remember at collection in Portugal
- Time – mainland Portugal is one hour behind the Czech Republic. If your supplier says “loading at 9:00”, that is 10:00 here.
- Reference – the driver needs the order or delivery note number under which the warehouse releases the goods.
- Packaging – furniture and upholstered goods need firm packaging and a pallet; loose items are easily damaged over such a long distance.
- Paperwork – within the EU no duty is payable, and the goods travel with an invoice and a CMR note.
