Freight from Austria to Brno: Vienna to Brno the same day
Vienna is roughly 130–140 km from Brno, so goods loaded in Vienna or Lower Austria in the morning are usually delivered in Brno the same day. From further afield – Linz, Graz or Salzburg – the truck arrives the same or the next day. We move anything from a single pallet to a full truckload, with no customs duty or formalities.
How quickly do goods from Austria reach Brno?
Austria is South Moravia’s nearest foreign market. A truck takes about two hours from Vienna to Brno, so in eastern Austria it is normal to load in the morning and unload in the afternoon. Indicative figures for a full truck:
| Collection point | Distance to Brno (approx.) | Full truck |
|---|---|---|
| Vienna, Weinviertel, Schwechat airport area | 110–150 km | same day |
| St. Pölten, Wiener Neustadt | 190–210 km | same day |
| Linz, Upper Austria | 280–320 km | same or next day |
| Graz, Styria | 340 km | same or next day |
| Salzburg | 450 km | next day |
| Klagenfurt, Villach | 500 km | next day |
| Innsbruck, Tyrol | 630 km | next day |
| Vorarlberg | 770–820 km | 1–2 days |
Single pallets on groupage usually take 2–3 working days. Bratislava is only about 80 km from Vienna, so we deliver Austrian goods to western Slovakia just as quickly.
Which route does a truck take from Vienna to Brno?
The standard route runs north from Vienna on the A5 motorway to the Drasenhofen – Mikulov border crossing, then along road I/52 to Pohořelice and on the D52 motorway to the southern edge of Brno. That is exactly where many of Brno’s warehouses are – around Modřice and along the D1 and D2 – so a truck from Austria does not need to cross the city. Trucks from Linz and western Austria usually come via Vienna too.

Why Austria suits small and urgent consignments
The short distance means even one or two pallets can move quickly: a smaller vehicle collects in Vienna in the morning and delivers in Brno in the afternoon. We also often add Austrian pallets to trucks travelling from Italy via Villach and Vienna to Moravia that still have room. For larger, regular volumes – such as weekly deliveries from an Austrian warehouse – a fixed collection day is worth agreeing.
How to plan collection in Vienna and delivery in Brno on the same day
For same-day arrival, three times have to fit together: when the supplier in Vienna releases the goods, how long loading takes and until when your Brno warehouse accepts deliveries. If the Brno site receives goods until 14:00, collection in Vienna should be no later than about 10:00. Send us both times with your enquiry, and the supplier’s warehouse contact if you have it – the planner will then schedule the vehicle to meet both.
Which Austrian rules should you bear in mind?

- Night ban – trucks over 7.5 t may only run at night (22:00–05:00) in Austria if they are certified low-noise vehicles, so most loading and driving happens in daytime.
- Weekends and holidays – trucks over 7.5 t do not run from 15:00 on Saturday to 22:00 on Sunday or on public holidays. A Friday collection in Vienna is therefore best delivered in Brno the same Friday.
- Tyrol – special truck restrictions apply on the A12; our planners handle routes from the Tyrol.
What do we bring from Austria to Moravia?
Building materials, steel and metal products, timber and furniture, paper, drinks and food, engineering components and goods from distribution warehouses that supply central Europe from the Vienna area. Returnable packaging and return shipments to Austria are common too.
How much we carry
- 1–6 pallets – groupage, or a dedicated smaller vehicle if it is urgent.
- 7–18 pallets – part load or rigid truck.
- from about 18 pallets or 7 t – full 13.6 m truck.
