Which routes do trucks from France take to Moravia?

France → Brno and Moravia
France → Brno and Moravia

From northern and eastern France the route runs through Germany – via Mannheim or Stuttgart to Nuremberg, then across the Waidhaus/Rozvadov border to Prague and down the D1 to Brno. From southern France, trucks travel either through Switzerland and southern Germany to Munich, Linz and Vienna, or along the coast into Italy and on via Villach and Vienna. In those two cases the truck enters Moravia from the south at Mikulov, which is the shortest approach for deliveries to southern Brno or the Břeclav area.

What goods do we bring from France to Moravia?

Engineering and automotive parts from Alsace and Lorraine, chemical and plastic products from the Lyon area, cosmetics and consumer goods from distribution centres around Paris, and food and wine from the south and from Bordeaux. Wine and spirits are excise goods and travel with their own documents, so please state the type of goods in your enquiry.

What to watch out for in France

Road freight from France to Brno and Moravia
  • Weekend driving ban – in France, trucks over 7.5 t are off the road from 22:00 on Saturday until 22:00 on Sunday, with similar rules before public holidays. Goods collected on a Friday afternoon therefore usually reach Moravia on Monday or Tuesday.
  • Collection appointment – large French distribution centres only load at a pre-booked time (a “rendez-vous”). If your supplier has one, send it with your enquiry.
  • Reference – the driver needs the order or collection number under which the warehouse releases the goods.

How much do we carry from France?

  1. 1–6 pallets – groupage; you pay only for the space the goods take.
  2. 7–18 pallets – part load, often combined with goods from Germany or Spain.
  3. from about 18 pallets or 7 t – full 13.6 m truck running straight to your address.

How to plan a French collection so it arrives on a weekday

Because of weekend driving bans in France, Germany and Austria, it is best to collect in France between Monday and Wednesday. A full truck from Alsace or Paris will then be in Brno by Thursday or Friday at the latest, giving you time to receive and put away the goods before the weekend. If goods are collected in southern France on a Thursday or Friday, expect delivery the following week. If you need the goods on a particular day, state it in your enquiry and we will work the collection day back from it.

Where in Moravia do we deliver?

To logistics parks around Brno, to manufacturers and wholesalers throughout Moravia and Silesia, and to western Slovakia. If your warehouse works with time slots, we align the truck’s arrival with them – see the article on unloading in Brno. The price calculator shows the cost of your route; for goods from the Iberian Peninsula see freight from Spain.
